So here’s a 7.3 with only 205,000 miles. For $10,900

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Kinja'd!!!

I’m not as serious about this one because for the price, something seems sketchy. Aftarmarket looking exhaust and a pillar gauge pod throw me off a little bit.

If that’s not a diesel, the mileage disqualifies it. And it’s what - 16 years old?

3 grand, tops.

7.3 is a diesel.

That’s a nice clean truck. Looks like a long bed, which is nice. I wouldn’t worry about the exhaust and pillar gauges...it might have a flash tuner, like basically every 7.3 ever. 100 hp and 200 ft lbs of torque for $300? Sign me up.

I've already signed up, actually...my truck has one.

Seems like a solid deal, depending on how much it costs to make the 6.0 reliable. Also I’m pretty sure the pillar gauges are stock, but I could be wrong

I mean worth is another thing, but diesel trucks around this age and mileage are all around 10 grand for my area at least. Plus this one looks clean.

I’ve been looking for a truck and used truck prices are insane :(

Anything diesel seems to be about 5 or 6 grand more than a gasser of the same vintage, almost regardless of condition and mileage

I wouldn’t be too worried about the pillar pod and larger exhaust, it depends on what gauges are in that pod. It’s a really good idea to monitor boost, EGTs and transmission temps, and opening up the exhaust is an easy power and fuel economy gain on these.

Having been around them, they aren’t that bad. As long as you put about $2500 into it when you buy it, provided it hasn’t already been done. Cheaper than an Allison, which is just as shoddy.

$2500ish to bulletproof it. In my opinion, it’s worth it for the performance and economy over the 7.3.

Apparently diesel trucks are immune to mileage and wear to all systems not just the drivetrain.

Trucks seriously hold value. Basically, as long as the bed still holds stuff and the hitch still works, they bring decent money.

a gauge pod means it’s been tuned to within an inch of its life.

seriously man, give it up. at this point the only diesel pickup I’d buy used is a 1983-1994 Ford with the (completely mechanical) IDI engine. I owned a 1984 F-250 with the 6.9 and even though it ate glow plugs and glow plug controllers, I could fix anything on that truck. but these modern things, what with most of them being owned by coal-rolling inbred DylanCodyZach hicks, I wouldn’t touch them.

This. My truck is for sale with a relatively low 159k miles, and people are like “yeah, but mileage doesn’t matter because they run until 500k”. Yeah, run until 500k. Ball joints don’t last 500k. Steering boxes and hoses don’t last 500k. Seats don’t last 500k. A lower mileage truck is still preferable.

Expensive! I wanted one when I bought my F250, but an Excursion with a diesel in good shape still brings $12-15k. I think maybe because nobody builds SUVs that big anymore, so they're still in demand.

LOL. $2500 to bulletproof a 6.0 is if you do all of the work yourself. and to do that you’d better have a big garage and a lift.

yes, I know you don’t have to, but if you want to get the job done in a reasonable amount of time it’s probably the way to go.

I'm certain that they'll run for 500k it's just a question if it runs WELL for 500k. It seems ridiculous to spend 10k on something that'll best be described as rough.

I was looking for 6.0's for that exact reason...until I stumbled upon a 99.5 7.3 that I bought twelve hours later.

My 7.3 cost me less than $5k. It was filthy and the interior needs to be stripped and cleaned, but the engine and tranny are in excellent shape. There are a few maintenance items I’m dealing with one at a time, but they are all cheap and nothing major or out of the ordinary.

Everyone I know says I got a steal though...That a truck in the condition of mine shoulda been $10k.
